Bangladesh’s Eny and Rafi set to compete at World Aquatics Championships in Singapore

Bangladeshi swimmers Mosammat Eny Akter and Samiul Islam Rafi are set to represent the country at the 22nd edition of the World Aquatics Championships, currently underway in Singapore.

Eny, accompanied by coach Md Niaz Ali, departed Dhaka for Singapore on Thursday morning, while Rafi is expected to join them from Bangkok, confirmed Bangladesh Swimming Federation General Secretary Mahbubur Rahman Shaheen to BSS.

The prestigious global event, which commenced on July 11, will run until August 3. The Bangladeshi contingent is scheduled to return home on August 4 following the conclusion of the competition.

This year’s edition of the championships features over 2,500 athletes from 205 countries, highlighting the growing global appeal of aquatic sports. Notably, Singapore has made history as the first Southeast Asian country to host the World Aquatics Championships.

The participation of Eny and Rafi marks another step forward for Bangladesh’s presence on the international swimming stage.
