Seven students from Glenrich International School, Uttara have won seven global awards, including three golds, at the Queen’s Commonwealth Essay Competition (QCEC) 2025, one of the world’s oldest and most prestigious international writing contests.
The achievement comes at a time when the competition recorded a historic high, receiving 53,434 entries from 54 Commonwealth countries, making the recognition particularly competitive, the school said in a press release.
Gold awards were secured by Grade 9 student Anna Tasnuva, Grade 10 student Areesha Ahmed Raaina, and Grade 11 student Md Farzan Ali for their essays.
Silver awards went to Grade 6 student Umaiza Shams and Grade 9 student Kazi Afsan Rawnak Anan.
Grade 7 students Anzar Saifan and Md Faizan Ali earned bronze awards in the global competition.
Organisers said the students were recognised for their originality, clarity of thought, and strong writing skills, competing against tens of thousands of participants from across the Commonwealth.
The school said the results reflected both the students’ dedication and its emphasis on nurturing critical thinking, creativity, and expressive skills among young learners.
The Queen’s Commonwealth Essay Competition is organised annually by the Royal Commonwealth Society and is regarded as a flagship platform for young writers to showcase ideas on global and social issues.
School officials said the international recognition has further encouraged students to engage with global conversations through writing and analytical thinking.
