The Bangladesh Embassy in Kathmandu has shared premium Bangladeshi mangoes to prominent figures across Nepal as part of its annual “Season’s Best Compliments” initiative, in a gesture aimed at enhancing diplomatic goodwill and friendship.
More than 1,750 kilograms of high-quality mangoes were presented to over 360 Nepali dignitaries, including Nepal’s President, Speaker, Council of Ministers, senior government officials, ambassadors, members of the diplomatic corps, business leaders, and representatives of civil society, according to a press release.
According to the embassy, the distribution was carried out with careful coordination by its team to ensure timely delivery of mango packages to all distinguished recipients in Kathmandu.
The mangoes were sourced from two orchards in Chapainawabganj, widely known as Bangladesh’s mango capital, and transported via Banglabandha land port, Fulbari Land Port (Siliguri border), and Kakarbhitta Port to maintain freshness and quality.
The shipment primarily featured the Khirshapat variety, a GI-certified mango recognised for its distinct flavor and considered one of the finest varieties in the region.
The embassy said the initiative reflects the long-standing friendship and strong people-to-people ties between Bangladesh and Nepal, symbolising warmth, goodwill, and continued diplomatic engagement between the two countries.
It also expressed appreciation to all contributors involved in making the “Mango Diplomacy” programme a success.
