Bangladesh and Kuwait are set to hold their first-ever Foreign Office Consultations (FOC) in Dhaka on Sunday, 19 October, with the aim of strengthening bilateral ties across political, trade, and other key sectors.
The meeting will take place at the State Guest House Padma, where officials from both nations will discuss cooperation on a range of issues.
Bangladesh will be represented by Mohammad Nazrul Islam, Secretary (East & West) of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, while Kuwait’s delegation will be led by Ambassador Sami Isa Johar Hayat, the Assistant Foreign Minister for Asia Affairs.
Key discussions during the consultation will include the allocation of land plots for the establishment of embassies in both countries, cooperation in the labour market, direct flight operations between Dhaka and Kuwait, collaboration in information technology and the digital economy, and the establishment of an Imam Training Centre in the capital’s Purbachal.
Other areas of focus include infrastructure development, agricultural cooperation, and support for obtaining accredited certificates for halal products in Kuwait.
Kuwait’s Assistant Foreign Minister will meet with Foreign Secretary ambassador Asad Alam Siam, as well as with high military officials, Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) sources said.
This will mark the first-ever FOC between Bangladesh and Kuwait, a significant step towards enhancing cooperation between the two countries on multiple fronts.
