Home Affairs Adviser Jahangir Alam Chowdhury stated that Local Government Adviser Asif Mahmud Shojib Bhuiyan accidentally carried an ammunition magazine to the airport.
“However, it was not an AK-47,” he said.
He said, “We will investigate why it was not detected during the initial airport screening. Authorities have been instructed to be more vigilant.”
The home adviser made these remarks while responding to journalists’ questions after a meeting of the Core Committee on Law and Order at the Secretariat on Monday.
The adviser mentioned that the meeting focused on ensuring smooth arrangements for events scheduled in July and August.
When asked about potential threats, he clarified, “There are no security concerns regarding the July-August programs.”
Regarding the incident of a woman being stripped and assaulted in Cumilla, the adviser stated that law enforcement had taken prompt action against those involved in the Muradnagar, Cumilla case.
