Singer couple Shayan Chowdhury Arnob and Sunidhi Nayak have travelled to Canada for the first time to perform at ‘Hok Kolorob Canada’, an event celebrating Bengali music and culture among the diaspora.
Bangladeshi expatriates from different parts of Canada have gathered to enjoy the couple’s performances.
Arnob and Sunidhi have already performed at two events, held on 8 and 14 August. According to Arnob, both shows drew large audiences. The couple are scheduled to perform at two more events during their Canada tour.
Reflecting on his first visit to Canada, Arnob said he was touched by the response from expatriate audiences.
“The aim of this event was to offer an enjoyable evening filled with Bengali music and culture amid the busy lives of people living abroad. Hundreds of expatriate Bangladeshis came to the shows. Sunidhi and I performed, and the audience listened with great attention,” he said.
The events were not limited to musical performances. Organisers also sought to create an emotional connection between expatriate Bangladeshis and their cultural roots.
The response highlighted the strong bond many expatriates continue to maintain with Bengali music, culture and their homeland.
Several audience members have shared photographs and videos from the events on social media, reflecting their enthusiasm for Bengali music and the performers.
Arnob said he and Sunidhi will perform at two more events before returning to Bangladesh at the end of the month.
Arnob has established a distinctive identity in Bangladesh’s music scene through his original style and creative work.
Sunidhi Nayak is also recognised for her musical practice and performances. Their appearances together on stage as a couple have generated additional interest among audiences.
