Bangladeshi series ‘ANNiE’, directed by Abdullah Mohammad Saad and starring Nazifa Tushi, has emerged as one of the most talked-about productions at the 2026 edition of the Seriencamp Festival, securing a place among five notable international series highlighted by the event.
The recognition is being viewed as a significant achievement for Bangladesh, as ‘ANNiE’ becomes the country’s first series to be featured in the festival’s history.
The selection was highlighted in a recent report by The Hollywood Reporter, which listed some of the festival’s most noteworthy productions. ‘ANNiE’ appeared first among the featured titles, alongside productions from Austria, Israel, Germany, and France-Belgium.
The series marks another international milestone for Abdullah Mohammad Saad, whose film Rehana Maryam Noor previously received international recognition at the Cannes Film Festival.
In ‘ANNiE’, Nazifa Tushi plays the lead role of a young nurse struggling to support her five siblings. Following a traumatic incident, her life is dramatically altered. As she confronts personal anger and the violence surrounding her, she gradually descends into a psychological darkness where revenge becomes her only path forward.
The cast also includes Yash Rohan, Simon Sadik, Sarika Sabrin, Farhana Mitu and Najah.
Other notable series featured in the festival’s selection include the Austrian dark comedy ‘Braunschlag 1986’, the Arabic-language Israeli thriller ‘Fadia’, the German comedy ‘The Fluz’, and the France-Belgium corporate scam drama ‘Eldorado’.
Each of the selected productions explores distinct social and political themes, ranging from satire and trauma to corporate fraud and power dynamics.
