All four engineering programmes of International University of Business Agriculture and Technology (IUBAT) have received international accreditation, marking a first for a private university in Bangladesh.

The accreditation, granted by the Board of Accreditation for Engineering and Technical Education (BAETE), covers IUBAT Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Computer Science and Engineering, Civil Engineering, and Mechanical Engineering, the university said in a press release on Saturday.

Awarded for six years, the recognition confirms compliance with national and international standards.

Graduates are expected to benefit through stronger access to higher education, scholarships, and multinational job markets, alongside improved global recognition of degrees.

The framework will also ensure continuous monitoring of curriculum and teaching quality, supporting sustained academic improvement.

BAETE, operating under the Institution of Engineers Bangladesh, has been a full signatory to the Washington Accord since 2023, placing its accredited undergraduate engineering programmes within internationally accepted standards.

The body follows outcome-based education principles and accredits specific programmes rather than institutions, enabling recognition of qualifications across major markets including the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada, and Australia.

The recognition also strengthens prospects for future alignment with global frameworks such as the Washington Accord, facilitating international mobility and professional practice.

Established in 1991, the university is one of the country’s early private institutions and continues to expand its academic and research footprint.
