Over 150 alumni of Japan-funded scholarships, including the ADB–Japan Scholarship Program (ADB-JSP), MEXT, JICA, IMF, and the World Bank, gathered in Dhaka on Thursday for a joint alumni event.
The event was hosted by ADB-JSP and the ADB Bangladesh Resident Mission in partnership with MEXT, JICA, IMF, and the World Bank.
It celebrated the impact of education and reaffirmed the commitment to a knowledge-based, poverty-free society.
Distinguished guests included Japan’s Ambassador to Bangladesh Shinichi Saida, JICA Bangladesh Chief Representative Tomohide Ichiguchi, ADB Executive Director Shigeo Shimizu, and ADB Bangladesh Country Director Hoe Yun Jeong.
Hoe Yun Jeong expressed pride in the alumni, highlighting their leadership in advancing socioeconomic development across Asia and the Pacific.
The event underscored how alumni are driving positive change in their communities and contributing to human capital development in Bangladesh.
Bangladesh remains one of the top recipients of Japan-funded scholarships, with ADB-JSP awarding 135 graduate scholarships annually in fields like economics, business, and technology.
Founded in 1966, ADB continues its mission to support inclusive, sustainable growth across Asia, leveraging innovative financial tools and strategic partnerships.
