The Bangladesh Army has reaffirmed its commitment to reviewing appeals filed by former army personnel while advising all concerned to maintain patience and discipline. This was stated in an official press release issued on the Army’s verified Facebook page on Wednesday.
The release stated that the Bangladesh Army has built its “glorious legacy through decades of professionalism, tireless dedication, and strict discipline. The unwavering loyalty, integrity, and sacrifices of its members form the foundation of this success. Military discipline remains the cornerstone of a professional army, and the Army Act provides for appropriate rewards and disciplinary actions to uphold this discipline.”
“Recently, some former personnel have submitted appeals seeking reconsideration of disciplinary decisions against them, which Army Headquarters has taken with utmost seriousness,” the post went on to say. Considering humanitarian and administrative aspects, a high-level board has already been formed at Army Headquarters to properly examine these appeals, and this work is currently ongoing, it added.
To date, 802 appeals have been received, of which 106 have been finalised and forwarded for finalisation. The remaining 696 appeals are being processed and will be resolved in phases after due evaluation. While the process is time-consuming, the Army is handling the matter with the highest sincerity and responsibility, the Facebook post said.
The press release further noted that the contributions of all army personnel in safeguarding the nation’s sovereignty, security, and stability are undeniable, and the nation remembers them with gratitude. The government and the Bangladesh Army deeply respect the rightful dignity, honour, and legitimate demands of ex-servicemen and remain committed to taking positive steps.
The Bangladesh Army believes that mutual respect, empathy, and adherence to due process are key to resolving issues peacefully. All concerned are urged to refrain from any negative activities and to maintain patience and discipline under all circumstances.
