Jamaat-e-Islami ameer Shafiqur Rahman said it is a shame that July martyrs’ families are on the streets again on the day of charter signing.
He made the remark while addressing a labour rally as chief guest at the Senpara Parbata Eidgah ground in Mirpur-10 in Dhaka on Friday afternoon.
He said no other political group in Bangladesh’s history has faced persecution like Jamaat, and that is why the party understands the pain of the July movement participants better than anyone else.
Dr Shafiqur Rahman said Jamaat has not taken revenge on any individual since the July mass uprising, despite facing continuous oppression. He added that the party has always stood by the oppressed and will continue to do so.
He said the July victims have suffered immensely, and Jamaat, as a party that has endured years of repression, can relate deeply to their struggle.
