Eid-E-Miladunnabi observes today.

Bangladesh joins the global Muslim Ummah in celebrating the sacred occasion of Eid-e-Miladunnabi, marking the birth and passing of the greatest of all prophets, Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH) on Saturday. The day holds deep spiritual significance as it commemorates the birth of the Prophet in 570 AD, on the 12th of Rabiul Awwal, in Makkah.

This day also marks his departure from this world at the age of 63, on the same date.

The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) was born into the noble Quraysh tribe, bringing light and guidance to a world previously enveloped in darkness and ignorance. Before his birth, the Arabian Peninsula was entrenched in moral decay, idol worship, and tribal conflicts, known as the era of Ayyam-e-Jahiliyyah. Through his divine mission, the Prophet (PBUH) liberated humanity, guiding them towards justice, truth, and the worship of the One Almighty.

Muslims in Bangladesh observe this day with deep reverence, reflecting on the Prophet’s profound impact on humanity. From a young age, he displayed a spiritual devotion, spending time in the Cave of Hira in deep reflection. At 40, the Prophet was entrusted with the responsibility of prophethood, spreading the message of Allah to all.

On this significant day, Chief Adviser Muhammad Yunus conveyed his wishes for peace, prosperity, and blessings to all. He also prayed for greater unity among the Muslim Ummah and urged people to embody the Prophet’s noble ideals for both worldly success and spiritual fulfilment.

Chief Justice Syed Refaat Ahmed highlighted the Prophet’s lasting legacy of justice, equality, and human dignity. He praised the Prophet’s Charter of Medina, which established an enduring model of communal harmony, tolerance, and coexistence—values that continue to resonate in Bangladesh, a country rich in diversity.

Leaders from across the political spectrum also issued messages of reverence. BNP’s Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman emphasized the Prophet’s exemplary compassion, highlighting his service to the oppressed, respect for women, forgiveness, and care for children. He called on Muslims to integrate these values into their daily lives.

Professor Mia Golam Porwar, Secretary General of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami, urged the nation to follow the Prophet’s guidance not just on Eid-e-Miladunnabi, but throughout the year. He stressed that only by adhering to the Prophet’s teachings in all aspects of life can humanity achieve true well-being and divine acceptance.

To commemorate the occasion, the government, along with religious organizations and political parties, has arranged a variety of events, including special prayers, public rallies, religious discussions, and gatherings. A month-long Islamic book fair is being held at the Baitul Mukarram National Mosque. Islamic Foundation Bangladesh has organized activities across the country to mark the blessed occasion.
