Eastern University (EU) officially inaugurated the Eastern University Research Society (EURS) on August 26.
The ceremony featured the unveiling of the EURS logo by Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Farid A Sobhani, who highlighted the crucial role of research in higher education and described the society as a “new beginning” for fostering knowledge-sharing and academic excellence at EU, says a press release.
Among the special guests were Dr Abul Bashar Khan, Registrar; Prof Dr M Sayedur Rahman, dean of the Faculty of Business Administration; and Prof Dr Md Mahfuzur Rahman, dean of the Faculty of Engineering and Technology. They urged students to actively participate in research initiatives.
The event included a workshop on “How to write a conference paper,” conducted by Dr Md Zahurul Haq, associate professor of Law, aimed at equipping young researchers with essential academic writing skills for national and international platforms.
Chaired by Dr Abu Bin Ihsan, chairperson of the Department of Pharmacy and chief coordinator of EURS, the programme outlined the society’s vision and future plans, encouraging both students and faculty to help build a vibrant research culture at the university.
The establishment of EURS underscores Eastern University’s commitment to advancing research, empowering its community to contribute significantly to the global academic arena.
