Paul McCartney has sparked fan excitement with a cryptic new Instagram post hinting at a return of The Beatles’ ‘Anthology’ project. Shared on August 19, the post features a carousel of images marked with the numbers one, two, three and four, without captions.

Fans are speculating that the inclusion of “four” could signal the release of Anthology 4, following the original three-volume series released in 1995-1996.

The original Anthology project combined albums, live versions, alternate takes, unreleased material and rare interviews, including the posthumous tracks ‘Free as a Bird’ and ‘Real Love’ featuring John Lennon’s vocals.

McCartney and Ringo Starr also used AI to complete Lennon’s demo ‘Now And Then’, though it was not included in the original set.

It remains unclear whether McCartney’s post teases Anthology 4, a re-release of the documentary on Disney+, or another project entirely. More details are expected to be revealed in the coming weeks.

Meanwhile, John Lennon and Yoko Ono’s NYC era is being explored in a new box set, ‘Power To The People’, and McCartney has announced the North American leg of his Got Back 2025 tour.
