Govt imposes new security restrictions for Secretariat

The government has imposed new security restrictions within the Secretariat, banning all forms of gatherings and unauthorised presence after 6pm.

An official notification, signed by Joint Secretary of the Ministry of Home Affairs, Md Jasim Uddin, issued on Tuesday has confirmed the directives.

Recognising the Secretariat as the nerve centre of the administration, the government has emphasised the need for strict and continuous security measures across all buildings and premises inside the compound.

It stated that all type of processions, rallies, and public gatherings are strictly prohibited within the Secretariat and no unauthorised meetings, conferences, or organisational gatherings are allowed in ministry or department conference rooms.

Besides, if there is any urgent official activity after 6pm, prior permission should be taken from Ministry of Home Affairs and during weekends or public holidays, prior approval from the ministry is required for any official presence.

In addition, all officers and employees working inside the Secretariat must visibly display their entry passes they have been instructed to strictly follow the guidelines to maintain order and ensure security inside the Secretariat premises.

Distribution of leaflets, or installation of banners or festoons within the premises is strictly prohibited and security forces will conduct thorough checks of vehicles and individuals entering the Secretariat, stated the notification.
