People across Lebanon have flooded the streets to oppose a government decision to adopt a US-supported plan targeting the disarmament of Hezbollah and other groups resisting Israel.
Demonstrators, largely supporters of Hezbollah and the Amal Movement, rallied in Beirut, southern Lebanon, and the Bekaa Valley, demanding the government scrap the proposal. They argued that stripping Hezbollah of its weapons would leave Lebanon vulnerable to Israeli attacks, particularly in the south, where cross-border tensions persist, reports IRNA .
Protesters cautioned that disarming Hezbollah would invite further Israeli aggression, leaving southern Lebanon defenseless.
While Hezbollah has not released a fresh statement, it previously condemned the disarmament plan as a grave error, warning it would strip Lebanon of its self-defense capabilities and embolden Israeli assaults.
