Police have recovered the body of a man from a hotel on Malibagh DIT Road in the capital on Wednesday.
The deceased was named Alamgir Khan, 50, son of Abdul Majid Khan of Chabbisharashi village of Palong upazila of Shariatpur. He had a fabric business in his area.
Rampura Police Station Sub-Inspector (SI) Kazi Abu Zubair said that police recovered the body the man from a room No. 410 on the fourth floor of the hotel named R Islam at around 11.30am. Later, it was sent to the Dhake Medical College Hospital morgue for autopsy.
He said that Alamgir came to Dhaka on August 3 for treatment and stayed at the hotel. Quoting the hotel manager, the official said that, at around 3:30am on Tuesday, Alamgir had asked him to buy acidity medication.
The door of the room was open when the body was discovered.
It is believed that he died of an illness. However, the cause of death will be known after an autopsy, SI Zubair said.
