Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) arrested 547 people and filed 68 cases for various offences during regular drives conducted across different police station areas in the capital over the past 24-hours.
DMP disclosed the information in a press release issued on Wednesday.
Police also seized a large quantity of narcotics and other evidence during the operations.
According to DMP, a division-wise breakdown of the arrestees shows that 169 were detained in Mirpur Division, 74 in Tejgaon, 70 in Wari, 56 in Motijheel, 49 in Lalbagh, 42 in Uttara Division, 36 in Gulshan, 26 in Ramna Division, 24 by the Detective Branch (DB), and one by the Special Response Unit (SRU).
During the drives, law enforcers recovered 62.690 kg of cannabis, 35,810 yaba tablets, 224 bottles of Winserecs, 126 bottles of Phensedyl, and 6,960 litres of locally-made liquor.
DMP said legal proceedings against the arrested individuals are underway.
