The Chief Prosecutor’s Office of the International Crimes Tribunal (ICT) has sent a letter to the home ministry to execute the court verdict confiscating the movable and immovable properties of former prime minister Sheikh Hasina and former home minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal.
Chief Prosecutor Md Aminul Islam disclosed the development on Tuesday.
According to a memorandum sent to the ministry’s senior secretary, International Crimes Tribunal-1 sentenced the fugitive accused Sheikh Hasina to death for crimes against humanity on 17 November 2025.
Simultaneously, the tribunal ordered the confiscation of all her properties to be distributed as compensation to the families of fighters and victims of July Uprising.
The judgment also instructed the home ministry to take necessary measures to enforce the property confiscation order.
Expressing concern in the memorandum, the Chief Prosecutor’s Office stated that if Hasina’s movable and immovable assets are not brought under state control rapidly, she could at any time enjoy, sell, or otherwise transfer them.
This could render the execution of the tribunal’s verdict and property confiscation order impossible.
Consequently, the memorandum requested the immediate preparation of a comprehensive list of all movable and immovable properties belonging to Hasina and bringing them under state control without delay.
It further urged the ministry to take required steps to sell or otherwise distribute the properties as compensation to fighter families and victims of July Uprising in accordance with the tribunal’s order.
The Chief Prosecutor’s Office has also dispatched a separate memorandum to the home ministry requesting similar measures regarding the properties of former home minister Kamal.
