The India-Pakistan group-stage match at the 2027 Men’s Cricket World Cup has attracted nearly 8.4 million ticket applications, making it the tournament’s most sought-after fixture so far.

Organisers announced the figure on Monday, underlining the huge demand for one of cricket’s biggest rivalries. India and Pakistan are scheduled to meet at The Wanderers in Johannesburg on October 10, 2027.

The venue, which has a capacity of 34,000, will also host the World Cup final. That match has received almost eight million ticket requests, putting it just behind the India-Pakistan clash in the ballot.

The figures come from a ticket application window that has drawn close to three million fans from 193 countries. The ballot remains open until November 21, giving supporters more time to apply for seats at the tournament.

Across the 14-team competition, organisers have received more than 120 million ticket requests. The World Cup will run from October 2 to November 21, 2027, with South Africa, Zimbabwe and Namibia sharing hosting duties.

The India-Pakistan fixture is set to be played in Johannesburg during the group stage. Demand for the match has already far outstripped the capacity of the ground, although applications do not represent confirmed ticket sales or the number of people who will attend.

The final’s near-eight-million requests show that interest extends beyond the marquee rivalry, but the group-stage meeting remains the biggest draw in the ballot.

With the application period still open, the totals could rise before the November 21 deadline. The figures offer an early indication of the global attention surrounding the 2027 tournament, particularly when India and Pakistan meet on the field. The contest will be staged in the tournament’s opening weeks, with both teams among the 14 sides competing across southern Africa. That gap between demand and available seats is especially stark at the Johannesburg ground.
