Miscreants hurled two crude bombs outside the press facility of the daily Amar Desh in the capital’s Tejgaon Industrial Area, leaving two people injured.
The incident took place at around 10:30pm on Sunday.
Confirming the incident, Tejgaon Industrial Area Police Station Officer-in-charge Mahbubur Rahman said police rushed to the scene after receiving reports of a bomb explosion. An investigation was underway, but no one had been detained immediately, he added.
The injured were taken to hospital for treatment. They were identified as Akhtar Hossain, a security guard, and Rina Khanam, who runs a betel leaf shop in front of the facility.
Two men arrived on a motorcycle outside the media outlet’s press facility that night, hurled the bombs and fled the scene. One exploded, while the other remained unexploded.
Police later launched a search operation in the surrounding area to identify and arrest those involved.
