A court has rejected the bail petition of Wakil Hossain alias Boga in an extortion case filed with Khulshi Police Station in Chattogram city.
Chattogram Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Mohidul Islam has passed the order.
Boga surrendered before the court and filed the petition on Sunday. The court then sent the accused to jail after rejecting his bail plea.
During the hearing, Boga was represented by Tariq Ahmad, president of the Chattogram District Bar Association, and Kamrul Islam Sajjad, member secretary of the Chattogram Nationalist Lawyers Forum.
According to police sources, Boga faces a total of 17 cases at various police stations under the Chattogram Metropolitan Police (CMP), with arrest warrants pending against him in at least two of them.
No remand has been sought so far.
