The more high-quality newspapers published in Bangladesh, the more the country’s readers and public will benefit, Daily Star Editor Mahfuz Anam has said.

He made the remarks on Monday at a programme held at the city’s Dhaka Club, organised to celebrate the anniversary of TIMES of Bangladesh.

Sharing his appreciation for the newspaper, the Daily Star editor added, “I look at this paper every day, and I think it is a wonderful effort. Many things – the news selection, and then the layout – I like them all very much.”

Urging journalists to work with high ethical standards, Anam said, “Those of us who enter journalism must believe from our hearts that we remain on the honest path, working with honesty and dedication, and never deviate from ethical journalism.”

He added, “Journalism is the most beautiful and exciting profession that can serve society. We journalists should always maintain the mindset to serve society.”

Extending his congratulations to the organisers, editor, and senior journalists of TIMES of Bangladesh, he said, “My heartfelt congratulations to the entrepreneurs of this new paper, the editor, and the senior journalists. My sincere wishes to everyone.”
