Popular singer Tasrif Khan and his team became stranded in Nepal amid heavy rain, landslides and mountain floods.
However, the singer has assured fans that they are safe.
Tasrif also urged people not to be misled by various headlines about their situation in Nepal.
He explained the incident in detail in a lengthy social media post on Sunday.
He said he and his team were not in the area where the flash floods occurred in Nepal.
Instead, they were stranded in a tourist village called Ghandruk.
Tasrif said heavy and continuous rain caused landslides and powerful mountain floods on the road from Ghandruk to Birethanti.
Large sections of the road were washed away at four separate points, cutting off road communication and leaving them stranded.
Explaining the situation, Tasrif wrote, “Our situation in Nepal needs a little explanation. Otherwise, many people are becoming confused after seeing different headlines. First of all, we were not on the side of Nepal where the flash flood incident occurred.”
He said the road became disconnected by landslides and mountain floods while they were returning from Ghandruk.
Walking back was also difficult because the journey was long.
Moreover, their guide did not allow them to travel while it was raining, as any trail in Nepal could face the risk of landslides during rainfall.
After conditions improved somewhat, they decided to return on foot with their guide.
Tasrif said they waited in Ghandruk village for two extra days.
When they realised that the road was unlikely to be repaired soon and the weather began to improve in the morning, they decided to walk to Birethanti.
They walked throughout the day before reaching Birethanti. From there, they travelled by vehicle to Pokhara.
Tasrif also said they were running short of Nepalese rupees. The team had carried money based on their planned length of stay.
However, their unexpected two-day extension meant their funds were beginning to run out. As the area was a rural village, card payments were not available.
Tasrif also compared the hospitality of people in Nepal’s tourist areas with that of Bangladesh.
He said that, despite the beauty of Nepal’s tourist destinations, he considered the people of Bangladesh more hospitable.
Referring to Sajek and Saint Martin’s Island, he said that when tourists become stranded in such destinations in Bangladesh, hotel or resort authorities often arrange accommodation and food for them.
However, Tasrif said he had no particularly negative feelings about his experience of being stranded in Nepal.
He said the natural surroundings and environment impressed him more than the hardship of walking for a long time during the return journey.
Finally, Tasrif reassured his fans about the safety of himself and his team. He said they were sufficiently safe and that there was little reason for concern.
He also requested people not to be misled simply by seeing headlines about their situation.
