Secondary and Higher Education Secretary Abdul Khalek has praised ASA University Bangladesh’s progress in education and research, while announcing government plans to print approximately 32 crore textbooks and inaugurate a secondary school football tournament involving about 40 lakh students.
He made the remarks at the university’s Orientation-2026 programme, held on Saturday at ASA Tower in Shyamoli, Dhaka, said a press release.
Vice-Chancellor SM Rezaul Karim chaired the programme, with Board of Trustees Member Mohammad Faruque attending as special guest. Registrar Md Zafar Siddique delivered the welcome address.
Khalek highlighted government initiatives to modernise the education system, promote technology-based learning and develop skilled human resources. He said the government is reforming the national curriculum with assistance from curriculum experts.
He assured the university of government support in securing foreign funding and other assistance. “Whenever you require support from the government or assistance in accessing foreign funding, we will stand beside you,” he said.
Treasurer A.K.M. Helal uz Zaman stressed the importance of dedication, integrity and discipline in academic life.
The programme was conducted by Law Lecturer Mohammad Kawsar and English Lecturer Tahmina Ali Bonna.
