Singer-composer Bappa Mazumder and filmmaker Masud Hasan Ujjal have teamed up for the new song Gole Jawa Shomoy, released with a music video on Saturday night.
Mazumder wrote, composed and performed the song, while Ujjal directed its video. The collaboration brings together two established figures from Bangladesh’s cultural scene.
Mazumder has worked in music for more than three decades as a singer, lyricist, composer and music director. Ujjal is primarily known as a filmmaker, though he has also worked in music.
Mazumder recently began writing lyrics for his own songs, saying he wanted to express some of his thoughts in his own words. Ujjal, who rarely directs music videos, was inspired by the song.
Gole Jawa Shomoy follows Mazumder’s Buro Nabiker Golpo, also written and composed by him. He plans to continue releasing self-written and composed songs.
