Despite Tanzid Tamim’s early fall, Bangladesh made a good start in the second ODI between Sri Lanka and Bangladesh at the R. Premadasa Stadium, Colombo. After a loss in the first ODI following a devastating batting collapse going from 99/1 to 105/8, the visitors came out to bat first in the must-win game to keep the series alive.
Tanzid Hasan Tamim was done by a brilliant knuckle ball from Asitha Fernando, as he changed his pace and disguised them well. The half-centurion from the first ODI went for just 7 in the second. However, his U-19 World Cup 2020 opening partner, Parvez Hossain Emon, stepped up, that too with proper hitting with confidence. With a high back-lift pointing almost towards point, the youngster has been swinging over mid-wicket, long on, and even through deep backward fine leg off a short one from Asitha. He got to his maiden ODI half century with a similarly hit sweep shot for four.
His partner, Najmul Hossain Shanto couldn’t stay too long as he got dismissed while trying to hit a short ball off Charith Asalanka, ending up getting caught at deep. Tawhid Hridoy stays as his partner as Bangladesh cross 100 with 8 wickets in hand.
