A Dhaka court has deferred the investigation report in the Bangladesh Bank (BB) reserve theft case for the 97th time.
It set September 14 as the new deadline.

Dhaka Additional Metropolitan Magistrate Md Sefatullah set the new date on Sunday after the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), which is investigating the case, failed to submit the report.

The report was scheduled to be submitted on Sunday, but the CID sought more time. The court subsequently fixed the new date for its submission.

The case was filed on 5 February 2016 over the cyber heist in which hackers stole around Tk 8.10 crore from Bangladesh Bank’s account at the US Federal Reserve Bank.

The incident became one of the world’s most high-profile cyber thefts.

On 15 March, 2016, Zobayer Bin Huda, then deputy director of Bangladesh Bank’s Accounts and Budgeting Department, filed the case with Motijheel Police Station under the Money Laundering Prevention Act against unidentified individuals.

The CID has been investigating the case for years, but the investigation report has yet to be submitted.
The repeated delays have resulted in the deadline being extended 97 times.
