Bangladesh have reached a historic high in the ICC Test rankings, climbing two places to seventh position following a dominant 2-0 series victory over Pakistan. It marks the first time in the country’s Test history that they have occupied a top-seven spot in the rankings.
The Tigers produced commanding performances across both venues, Mirpur and Sylhet, dismantling their opponents in every department of the game. Batting, bowling, and fielding all fired in unison, translating consistent on-field performances into a meaningful leap up the rankings table. Bangladesh had entered the series ranked ninth.
The victory came at the expense of Pakistan, who dropped two places to eighth, whilst the West Indies also slipped one position as a result of the updated standings.
The bowling unit deserves particular credit for their display in the Sylhet Test, where they maintained excellent discipline throughout and claimed crucial wickets at precisely the right moments to keep Bangladesh firmly in control. The batsmen, meanwhile, constructed vital innings at key stages to ensure the side remained ahead in both contests.
