iscussions are reportedly underway for a sequel to the Bollywood classic ‘3 Idiots’, with Vicky Kaushal being considered for a new role as a “fourth idiot” in the follow-up film.
According to reports, the proposed sequel will introduce a fresh character alongside familiar faces, with the storyline expected to move forward by around a decade.
The narrative is likely to revisit the lives, ambitions and friendships of the central characters, exploring how their journeys have evolved over time.
While details remain at an early stage, filmmaker Rajkumar Hirani is expected to return as director, having helmed the original. The sequel is said to retain the emotional and comedic elements that defined the first film, while introducing new twists.
The return of the original cast, including Aamir Khan, Sharman Joshi and R. Madhavan, is also anticipated. Reports suggest that Kaushal has expressed interest in joining the project and has held discussions with Aamir Khan and Hirani, with a verbal agreement said to be in place.
However, the project has yet to be formally scheduled, and production timelines will depend on aligning the availability of the lead actors.
Kaushal’s involvement is also expected to depend on the completion of his current project, ‘Mahavatar’.
