A small kiosk owner Nazrul Bepari , 32, was hacked to death by miscreants in Daulatdia under Goalondo upazila of Rajbari district.

Police recovered his body around 8:30 am on Monday from in front of the Mukti Mohila Samity office, adjacent to the Daulatdia brothel. The deceased, Nazrul Bepari, was the son of the late Shahajuddin Bepari of Iman Khan Para in Goalondo. He had been running a small shop selling betel leaves and cigarettes near the Daulatdia brothel for several years.

According to police, Nazrul had two cases filed against him at the Goalondo Ghat Police Station — one related to drugs and the other to gambling. It is believed that he was brutally hacked to death sometime on Sunday night.

Officer-in-Charge of Goalondo Ghat Police Station, Mohammad Rakibul Islam, said: “Nazrul suffered severe injuries from sharp weapons to his head, neck, back, arms, and legs. He is believed to have died on the spot.” He added that the body has been sent to Rajbari Sadar Hospital morgue for autopsy. “We are investigating the incident seriously and have launched an operation to arrest those involved.”

The brutal nature of the killing has sparked fear among locals, who have demanded the immediate arrest and exemplary punishment of those responsible.
