Home Minister and BNP Standing Committee Member Salahuddin Ahmed said a discrimination-free Bangladesh will be built in line with the vision of BNP Chairperson and former prime minister Khaleda Zia.
“A discrimination-free Bangladesh will be built as envisioned by former prime minister and Deshnetri Begum Khaleda Zia for the country’s overall development,” he said.
He made the remarks while taking part in a discussion on a condolence motion during the maiden session of the 13th Jatiya Sangsad.
The motion paid tribute to Begum Khaleda Zia and several noted political and social personalities who recently passed away.
Recalling her political legacy, the home minister said Khaleda Zia played a key role in restoring democratic values and provided leadership during critical moments in the country’s political history.
He also said Khaleda Zia played a significant leadership role during the July Mass Uprising of 2024.
The senior BNP leader recalled the sacrifices of the Liberation War of 1971 and the July Mass Uprising of 2024 with due honour and respect.
He said Bangladesh will be built in line with the aspirations of those historic struggles.
The condolence motion in parliament also honoured the contributions of the departed leaders and acknowledged their roles in shaping the nation’s political and social landscape, he added.
