Goals went missing in Rajbari on Sunday, but the football never dipped. The Dhaleshwari Zone served up two competitive Under-17 National Championship matches built on structure, discipline and defensive focus.
Shariatpur and Dhaka opened the day with a 0-0 draw that felt tense rather than tame. Both sides matched each other physically and tactically, refusing to overcommit and leave space behind.
Shariatpur carried confidence despite their heavy defeat earlier in the zone. They created chances, rattled the post and forced Dhaka’s goalkeeper into two sharp saves.
Dhaka responded with control and pressure. They earned more corners, worked the ball wide and carved out the clearest chance after the break, but their finishing let them down.
Both goalkeepers anchored their teams when it mattered. Shariatpur keeper matched Dhaka save for save, and midfielder Ashraful stood out with his work rate and composure to claim man of the match.
The second game followed a similar pattern but with a different rhythm. Rajbari dominated possession against Faridpur and pushed higher as the match wore on.
Rajbari probed patiently and tested the defence with five shots on target. Faridpur absorbed pressure, stayed compact and trusted their back line to block central spaces.
Neither side broke. Rajbari’s control brought territory and numbers, but Faridpur’s discipline denied them the decisive touch.
The double goalless draw told its own story. At this level, organisation matters as much as flair, and Sunday belonged to teams who defended smartly and attacked without recklessness.
