A total of 98 Bangladeshi nationals were denied entry into Malaysia at Kuala Lumpur International Airport early Friday as they failed to comply with the country’s entry requirements, according to the Malaysian news agency Bernama.
Quoting the Malaysian Border Control and Protection Agency (AKPS) the report said a raid was conducted at the International Arrival Hall, Terminal 1 of Kuala Lumpur Airport from 1am to 7:30am on Friday (Malaysian local time).
During that time, the documents of 181 foreign visitors were examined. Of them, 98 Bangladeshis were given a ‘No To Land (NTL)’ notices as their documents were not proper. The agency said that all the passengers arrived in Malaysia from Dhaka on an early-morning flight. It is believed that they tried to avoid strict checks during the daytime.
However, they were not allowed to enter Malaysia due to use of fake hotel booking, lack of return tickets and failure to prove sufficient funds to stay in Malaysia, the AKPS statement said.
The organisation also said that many of the visitors are suspected of planning to misuse country’s entry facilities to live and work there illegally.
They also said that this operation has been conducted to protect the sovereignty of the border and strengthen national security, which will continue in the future.
