A three-year-old child rescued from a deep tube-well pit in Raozan upazila of Chattogram on Wednesday evening has died while undergoing treatment at the upazila health complex.
The child, identified as Misbah, son of local resident Saiful Islam, fell into the pit at Joynagar village under Kodolpur Union around 4:30pm.
Fire service personnel rescued him after nearly four hours of effort around 8:10pm.
Raozan Police Station Officer-in-Charge Md Sajedul Islam confirmed that Misbah was undergoing treatment at the Upazila Health Complex when he passed away on Wednesday night.
Raozan Fire Service Station Officer-in-Charge Shamshul Alam said the child’s position was initially located about 12 feet below the surface. The rescue operation began at around 5:20pm after locals informed the fire service.
The incident has shocked the local community, and authorities are yet to determine the exact cause of the child’s fall into the deep tube-well pit.
