A Dhaka court has placed three arrested suspects on two days of remand each in connection with an attack on the Shah Ali Bogdadi shrine in Mirpur during its Urs ceremony.
Metropolitan Magistrate Arifur Rahman passed the order on Sunday after a hearing, police officials confirmed.
The three accused are Md Azam, Sheikh Md Sazzadul Haque Russell, and Arman Dewan. They were arrested from the North Bishil area under Shah Ali Police Station on Saturday night around 9:30pm.
The investigation officer, Tariqur Rahman, produced the three before the court on Sunday and applied for three days of remand. Defence lawyer Md Kamal Uddin argued for cancellation of remand and bail.
After hearing both sides, the court granted two days of remand for each accused.
The attack occurred on Thursday night during the Urs ceremony at the Shah Ali shrine in Mirpur. Witnesses said some individuals suddenly began beating people with sticks.
A case was filed on Saturday by Reshmi Begum, alleging damage of Tk30,000 and looting of Tk90,000 during the attack. Between 100 and 150 people have been named as accused in the case.
Police are continuing efforts to identify and arrest the remaining suspects, officials said. Further investigation is ongoing.
