Two more people died of dengue in the past 24 hours across the country, while 279 patients were admitted to hospitals during the same period.
The Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) disclosed the figures in its daily dengue report on Saturday.
According to the report, both of the deceased were residents under Dhaka South City Corporation. Meanwhile, Chattogram division recorded the highest number of hospitalisations with 84 new patients.
In the last 24 hours, 64 patients were admitted in Dhaka South City Corporation areas, 45 in Barishal division, 42 in Dhaka division, 33 in Dhaka North City Corporation, 9 in Mymensingh division, and 2 in Khulna division.
With the latest casualties, the death toll from dengue this year has climbed to 147, the DGHS report said.
Health experts warned that dengue has now become a year-round disease, with infections spiking during the monsoon season. They emphasised the need for mosquito repellents, nationwide awareness campaigns, and greater public vigilance to contain the spread.
Bangladesh experienced its worst-ever dengue outbreak in 2023, when 321,179 cases and 1,705 deaths were reported across the country.
