Zubaida Rahman, the wife of BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman, returned to Bangladesh on Tuesday after 17 years. She arrived alongside her mother-in-law, BNP Chairperson and former Prime Minister Khaleda Zia.

Upon landing, Zubaida traveled directly to Khaleda Zia’s Gulshan residence “Firoza” without visiting her own family home in Dhanmondi.

Security has been arranged at the Dhanmondi residence, where she is expected to stay during the remainder of her visit.

Before going home, Zubaida visited her ailing mother, Syeda Iqbal Mand Banu, who is undergoing treatment at Square Hospital in the capital. Banu, widow of former Naval Chief Rear Admiral Mahbub Ali Khan, has been suffering from age-related complications.

Zubaida and her husband left Bangladesh in 2008. This marks her first return since then.
