Chief Adviser Muhammad Yunus is set to receive the prestigious “King Charles’ Harmony Award” in the United Kingdom today (Thursday).
The award will be presented by King Charles III at a ceremony to be held at St. James’s Palace in London.
Chief Adviser’s Press Secretary Shafiqul Alam confirmed the information to the state-run news agency, BSS, earlier on Thursday.
Dr. Yunus is currently in London on a four-day official visit.
In addition to receiving the award, the Chief Adviser is scheduled to meet King Charles III at Buckingham Palace later on the day. He is also expected to hold a meeting with Sir Lindsay Hoyle, Speaker of the House of Commons, at Westminster.
Earlier on Wednesday, UK Secretary of State for Business and Trade and President of the Board of Trade Jonathan Reynolds met Chief Adviser Muhammad Yunus at the British Parliament
Diuring the meeting, Reynolds has reaffirmed the UK’s support for Bangladesh’s interim government’s initiatives to recover misappropriated funds siphoned off to various countries.
Yunus highlighted the interim government’s efforts in economic recovery, particularly reforms in the banking sector, stabilisation of foreign exchange reserves, and the maintenance of macroeconomic stability.
Meanwhile, BNP’s Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman is scheduled to meet with interim government Chief Adviser Dr. Muhammad Yunus in London tomorrow, June 13.
The upcoming meeting is expected to cover key political developments, including discussions surrounding the interim government’s role in the ongoing political process.
Earlier, the Chief Adviser left Dhaka for London on Monday evening for a four-day official visit to the United Kingdom.
