Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus sat for a meeting on Saturday with representatives from 14 additional political parties to discuss the country’s current state of affairs.
The meeting is being held at state guest house Jamuna, according to a statement from the Chief Adviser’s press wing.
Among those present are Aminul Haque Tipu Biswas of the National Gano Front, Mustafa Jamal Haider of the 12-party alliance, Maulana Abdul Majed Athari of the Nejam-e-Islam Party, Maulana Yusuf Ashraf of the Bangladesh Khelafat Majlis, National People’s Party (NPP) Chairman Fariduzzaman Farhad, Syed Ehsanul Huda of the National Party, and Dr. Mushtaq Hossain of Bangladesh Jasad.
Additional attendees included Bobby Hajjaj of the Nationalist Democratic Movement, Shamim Haider, Secretary General of the Zaker Party, Mufti Sakhawat Hossain Razi, Secretary General of Islami Oikya Jote, Rafiqul Islam Bablu, Chairman of the Bhashani Janashakti Party, Dr Mostafizur Rahman Iran of the Bangladesh Labor Party, Masud Rana, Coordinator of BSD-Marxist, and Manjurul Islam Afendi of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam.
This meeting follows a series of discussions held earlier in the week.
On July 22, the chief adviser met with four major political parties, including the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP), Jamaat-e-Islami, National Citizen Party (NCP), and Islami Andolan Bangladesh.
Key participants included BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, Jamaat-e-Islami’s Nayeb-e-Amir Dr. Syed Abdullah Mohammad Taher, NCP convener Nahid Islam, and others.
A day later, on July 23, Professor Yunus met with representatives from 13 other political parties.
The series of meetings underscores the chief adviser’s efforts to engage various political stakeholders in dialogue amid the country’s ongoing political challenges.
