A star-studded concert will energize fans at Dhaka’s National Stadium on Tuesday evening, ahead of the high-stakes AFC Asian Cup Qualifier match between Bangladesh and Singapore. Organized by the Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF), the pre-match event will feature performances from popular singer-actress Xefer Rahman and others.
The match is set to kick off at 7pm, but the entertainment will begin earlier with music, dance, and excitement. Xefer Rahman expressed her enthusiasm in a social media post on Monday, writing: “It’s an honor to perform at the Bangladesh vs Singapore Asian Cup Qualifier. Let’s go, Bangladesh!”
Official BFF presenter Mahamuda Maha will host the concert. She also shared her excitement online, saying: “I’m ready for this high-voltage match. Are you ready for tomorrow?”
Muza will be joining Xefer on stage, who recently sang the theme song for the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL). The two have previously collaborated on popular tracks such as “Jhumka,” “Arale Harale,” and “Nei Proyojon.”
Public interest in the national team has surged, especially with the inclusion of three diaspora footballers: Hamza Choudhury, Fahamidul Islam, and Shamit Shome. Their presence has not only energized football fans but also caught the attention of stars from the entertainment industry.
Xefer recently met Hamza Choudhury and his wife Olivia, sharing the moment on social media. Now, she’s set to dedicate her performance to the players and fans, singing in support of the team.
The BFF has announced that stadium gates will open at 2pm. To ensure safety, items such as bags, bottles, and extra belongings will not be allowed inside. For those without tickets, the match will be shown live on big screens at various locations, including Rabindra Sarobar in Dhanmondi.
The match is expected to conclude around 9pm.
Meanwhile, Xefer also has two songs featured in upcoming Eid-ul-Adha film releases. In Raihan Rafi’s Tandob, she lent her voice to the track “Lichur Bagane” alongside Pritom Hasan, Aleya Begum, and Mongol Mia. In Sanjay Samaddar’s Insaf, she performed the item number “Dhamaka,” where she also appears on screen, dancing and lip-syncing to the track.
