School leaders and owners from across Bangladesh came together in Dhaka on Saturday, May 17 to find out why OxfordAQA is the world’s fastest growing international exam board. The event highlighted how the board’s leading UK assessment expertise equips students to succeed in their futures internationally through prioritising higher order thinking skills and accessibility for students with English as an additional language.

OxfordAQA combines the knowledge and experience of two of the UK’s largest not-for-profit education organisations — Oxford University Press, a department of the University of Oxford, and AQA, the largest exam board for GCSEs and A-levels in the UK — to offer a fresh and fair approach to assessment for international students.

The event was held at the Westin Dhaka, conducted by OxfordAQA’s recently appointed country director for Bangladesh and Nepal, Shahin Reza. It also included presentations from Managing Director of OxfordAQA Andrew Coombe and OxfordAQA’s Training and Support Team Leader Matt MacGregor.

The event was graced by Chairman of the University Grants Commission Professor Dr SMA Faiz as the chief guest and special guest Exams Director, Bangladesh British Council, Maxim Raimann who gave their insights on the future of education in Bangladesh and formally declared OxfordAQA to be operational across the nation.

Professor Faiz commented: “I’m absolutely delighted to know that OxfordAQA qualifications are now available for the students in Bangladesh. I hope they will make their qualifications more affordable for our students and offer necessary training, so our teachers are equipped to teach students by maintaining international standards.”

Maxim Raimann said, “British Council is committed to support UK exam boards with the delivery of high-quality exams.”

Shahin Reza added: “It is really exciting to see that the leaders from international schools are very much welcoming about the introduction of OxfordAQA exam board in Bangladesh. We are absolutely committed to support schools in Bangladesh in adopting OxfordAQA qualifications”.

Matt MacGregor said, “It has been a privilege to meet and work alongside some of Bangladesh’s most passionate and dedicated educators. As OxfordAQA grows in Bangladesh, I look forward to bringing our comprehensive, dynamic, and examiner-led training, support, and thought leadership to teachers.”

Andrew Coombe reflected: “OxfordAQA has a great academic heritage from the UK, spanning over a century. I am so excited to see the positive impact that our exams will have on the schools and students of Bangladesh. At OxfordAQA, we know we share the commitment of Bangladeshi educators to raise up global citizens who are well-rounded and future-ready. We look forward to our upcoming partnership with school leaders, teachers, parents and students across the country.”
