For the second consecutive day, protesting workers have blocked access to Srom Bhaban, the Ministry of Labour headquarters in Dhaka’s Bijoynagar, preventing officials from entering their offices.
Since 9am Tuesday, workers from Style Craft and Young Ones BD have maintained their position at the main gate, mirroring Monday’s demonstration. Meanwhile, TNZ Group workers announced a “March to Jamuna” toward the chief adviser’s residence this afternoon, demanding unpaid wages and allowances.
Style Craft worker leader Raju Ahmed stated: “Despite submitting our memorandum at the chief adviser’s office yesterday, no action has been taken. We won’t allow labour officials to enter until our demands are met.”
The workers seek payment of Tk20.86 crore taka in 14 months’ overdue salaries and Eid bonuses for 1,058 employees.
TNZ Group leader Shahidul Islam revealed workers will march toward Jamuna residence at 2:30 PM, vowing to continue their sit-in until full payment is secured. “After months of protests, we were promised Tk3 crore before Eid against Tk17 crore owed, but received only Tk2.67 crore.”
“This time we won’t return without full payment,” he declared, calling this their final protest phase.
