Woman, two children found dead in M’singh

Police recovered three bodies, including a woman and her two children, from a house in Bhaluka upazila of Mymensingh on Monday morning.

The deceased were identified as Moyna Akter, 25, wife of Rafiqul Islam; her daughter Raisa, 7, and son Nirab, 2. They were hailed from Jane Bazar area of Kendua in Netrokona district.

Police said that Rafiqul works at the Russell Spinning Factory in Bhaluka. He lived with his family in a rented house in Ward-7, Panashail Road area of Bhaluka Municipality.

Rafiqul’s younger brother Nazrul Islam also lived with them.

Around 9 am, Rafiqul came home from his work place and found the door of his house locked.

Not getting any response, he broke the lock and entered the room and found his wife and two children lying with their throats slit.

Bhaluka Model Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md Humayun Kabir said that being informed police reached the place and recovered the bodies at around 9.30am. An investigation is underway to find out reason behind the killing.

However, the murder could have been caused over family dispute, said the district’s Superintendent of Police (SP) Kazi Akhter ul Alam.

He said they suspected that the woman’s brother-in-law might have involve in the incident as he remains absconding after the incident.

Efforts are underway to unravel the mystery of the incident and identify and arrest the murderer. Hopefully, the incident will be clarified soon, he added
