Police on Sunday recovered the hanging body of a woman from Nilkhet Kormojibi Mohila Hostel in the capital.
The deceased was identified as Riya Akter Shanta, 30, of Palashpur village in Barishal Sadar upazila and a former student of Dhaka University.
Sub-Inspector Mobarak of New Market Police Station said that upon receiving information, they recovered the body at around noon from the hostel where she was found hanging from a ceiling fan with a scarf.
“Shanta had been working at Agrani Bank in Dohar upazila of Dhaka district,” he said.
Her body was sent to Dhaka Medical College Hospital morgue for autopsy after completing legal all procedures.
“It will be clear after the autopsy and further investigation whether it was suicide or not,” said the police officer.
