BNP Chairperson Tarique Rahman has announced the party’s manifesto ahead of the 13th National Parliamentary Election. The manifesto, unveiled on Friday (January 6), places entertainment and culture in its fifth and final chapter, drawing public interest over its proposed commitments in this area.

The manifesto identifies preventing cultural aggression as a key priority. It states that effective measures will be taken to resist immoral satellite culture and other forms of cultural aggression. At the same time, it promises to further enrich various branches of culture, such as music, dance, theatre, literature, and cinema, in harmony with national heritage. The manifesto also emphasizes integrating positive and beneficial elements from the outside world with national culture.

BNP pledges to encourage a national and democratic cultural outlook. It states that practices considered contrary to national values and promoting an unhealthy culture will be discouraged. Alongside this, the party commits to removing all obstacles to the development of democratic culture and ensuring that culture reflects free thinking and diverse ideologies in a healthy manner.

To foster a healthy environment for cultural and entertainment practices, the manifesto promises to create necessary facilities in educational institutions. This initiative aims to expand opportunities for cultural engagement and creative entertainment among future generations.

The party also outlines new plans to recognize contributions in the cultural arena. It announces an expansion of the practice of awarding national medals in major fields of culture as recognition of outstanding contributions. In this context, the manifesto notes that national awards such as the Independence Award and the Ekushey Padak were introduced during the BNP’s tenure.

Additionally, Tarique Rahman announced the launch of a “Notun Kuri Sports Show” to promote entertainment and development for children and adolescents.
