Walton has been honoured with the SDG Brand Champion Award 2025 as the most sustainable electronics manufacturer of the year, recognising its contribution to clean energy and sustainable industrial practices.
At the third edition of the SDG Brand Champion Awards, held on Saturday at the Radisson Blu Hotel in Dhaka, Walton received awards in three categories: Best Sustainable Electronics Manufacturer of the Year, Clean Energy Initiative for Sustainability, and an Honourable Mention for Outstanding Contribution to Climate and Environmental Protection.
Walton Hi-Tech Industries PLC Managing Director SM Mahbubul Alam received the awards on behalf of the company.
Expressing his reaction, Walton Managing Director SM Mahbubul Alam said, “It is a matter of great pride and joy for the Walton family to receive the SDG Brand Champion Award 2025 in three categories. We are thankful to all involved for this recognition.”
He noted that Walton remains committed not only to producing high-quality electrical, electronic and technology products but also to safeguarding the environment. From its inception, Walton has maintained compliance with global environmental standards, incorporating state-of-the-art, eco-friendly machinery and technology in its manufacturing processes.
Highlighting the company’s sustainability efforts, Alam said Walton has installed Bangladesh’s largest floating solar power plant with a one-megawatt capacity and rooftop solar projects at its factories to support the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The company has also phased out the use of harmful CFC and HCFC gases in refrigeration and air conditioning products and adopted extensive recycling initiatives for metal and plastic waste.
These initiatives have earned Walton the Green Factory Award twice and the National Environment Award this year.
The SDG Brand Champion Awards, organised by Bangladesh Innovation Conclave in association with the Sustainable Brand Initiative and Bangladesh Brand Forum, aim to recognise organisations making significant contributions to sustainable development.
This year, nominations were accepted across 22 categories, with 457 nominations submitted between 26 May and 30 June. Following a rigorous evaluation process, 60 sustainable initiatives, including Walton Hi-Tech Industries PLC, were selected for the SDG Brand Champion Awards 2025.
The recognition underscores Walton’s leadership in integrating sustainability into its business operations and promoting environmental responsibility in Bangladesh’s electronics sector.
