Under the humming lights of the Shaheed Noor Hossain National Volleyball Stadium, Power Development Board carved their name into the air with thunderous spikes and seamless unity. On a vibrant Tuesday in Dhaka, they rose above the net and beyond expectations to clinch the men’s title in the selection round of the National Volleyball Championship, defeating BKSP in straight sets: 3-0.
The crowd watched in awe as PWD displayed power, precision and poise. Each serve and volley spoke of hours of sweat and sync, as they kept BKSP at bay throughout the final. Earlier in the day, they had brushed aside Bangladesh Police by the same margin, showing no signs of fatigue, only the hunger to dominate.
BKSP, too, had their moments—surviving a thrilling 3-2 battle against Titas Club in the group phase—but could not recreate that fire under the bright stadium glare in the final. Still, their journey earned them a place in the final round.
Six teams were divided into two groups for this selection phase. The top two from each now move forward to the final round, where the real test begins. Waiting in the wings are the giants—defending champions Bangladesh Army, the disciplined Bangladesh Air Force and Navy, alongside formidable regional outfits from Kushtia, Dhaka, Bogra and Rajshahi.
The volleyball court will return to life again from June 26 to 30, right here in the capital. But today belonged to PWD—a team that didn’t just win, but announced themselves with thunder.
Bangladesh Volleyball Federation General Secretary Bimal Ghosh Bhulu graced the final as chief guest, witnessing firsthand the rise of a unit ready to challenge the best in the country.
