The Ministry of Home Affairs has announced that all visitor access to the Bangladesh Secretariat will be suspended on Tuesday, citing “unavoidable circumstances.”

However, the decision comes as government employees continue their protests against the recently enacted Public Service (Amendment) Ordinance, 2025.

Employees from various ministries and departments gathered within the Secretariat premises Monday, demanding the immediate repeal of the ordinance.

The newly promulgated law has been labelled as “repressive” and “unconstitutional” by the protesters.

The demonstrations, organised under the banner of the Bangladesh Secretariat Officers Employees Oikya Forum, are set to continue Tuesday. Protest leaders have called upon civil servants nationwide to join in solidarity.
