The Islamic Foundation has issued a directive mandating that all mosques in the country hold Jummah prayers at the same time—1:30pm.
The decision comes in response to concerns that variations in prayer times across different mosques are causing confusion among worshippers.
In an official letter issued on Sunday (April 13), the Director General of the Islamic Foundation, A. Salam Khan, instructed all divisional and district directors to take necessary steps to ensure uniformity in the timing of Jummah prayers.
The letter states that currently, Friday prayers are held at varying times in different mosques—some starting at 1pm, others at 1:30pm, and some even at 1:50pm. This inconsistency, it noted, creates confusion and inconvenience, particularly for devout Muslims who are traveling or passing through unfamiliar areas.
To resolve this issue and to facilitate ease for the faithful, the Islamic Foundation is calling on all mosques nationwide to conduct Jummah prayers uniformly at 1:30pm, it said.
